To Whom It May Concern,
On Sunday November 17th, a group of young Vietnamese men and women were gathered at a park near Our Lady Cathedral for a game of soccer. They were all wearing shirts with the logo “No-U” on it which symbolizes a movement against the Chinese government and what they are doing to the country. As you may be aware, the Chinese authorities have recently taken by force two important islands in Vietnam: Spratly and and Paracel Islands. As this group of young citizens arrived at the park, the police forces immediately closed in on them and captured everyone that was gathered around that area. They were all brought to Ben Nghe police headquarters. Although most have been released, news broke out just yesterday, on December 8th, 2011, that Mrs Bui Thi Minh Hang, a mere passerby on that day has been sentenced to two whole years in lock up! She was charged on absolutely no accounts and is now being unfairly punished. We are outraged at this situation and ask you to please help us by pressuring the government of Vietnam to release this woman immediately in order to bring her back home to her friends and family, all deeply concerned about her well being.
Thank you so much for your attention and support,
Respectfully,
